We have a five-game slate tonight with some very balanced matchups, which should give us a few good spots to target.

It's still early in the season and teams are playing very open and free flowing, which is great for player production.

NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/15

Over the past few days, we've seen some teams really pile up the goals, which does open up the opportunity to grab multiple players from the same team for props.

Capitals vs. Avalanche Prediction: Friday, November 15th

After a very slow start to the season, the Colorado Avalanche have begun to show signs of life, coming in having won four of their last five games. They look to keep that rolling versus the Washington Capitals, who come in having lost three of their last five games.

On the season, the Capitals are allowing 61.56 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th worst in the league. This should play right into the hands of the Avalanche, who come in generating 63.90 Total Shot Attempts in the same situations, which is the fifth-highest in the league.

This gives us a matchup of two teams at the opposite ends of the spectrum, which brings me to Cale Makar. Of course, Makar is considered one of, if not the best defender in the league and is off to a blazing hot start this season.

The points are fantastic with 25 in 17 games, but we are here for the shots on goal. He comes in averaging 2.7 shots on goal per game and coming off a game where he had just a single shot on goal. I love buying into a player in a bit of a bounce-back spot, which is what Makar has tonight against the Capitals.

Not only is he a high-volume shooter, but as noted above, the Capitals are allowing a ton of shot attempts this season. It's a great spot for Makar to rack up the shots on goal.

Blue Jackets vs. Penguins Prediction: Friday, November 15th

This might not be the most exciting game if we're looking at the standings, but this game has plenty of juice from a prop perspective. Both teams are bad on defense, and this should allow an open and free-flowing game.

Despite being a “weaker” team, the Columbus Blue Jackets come in generating 61.76 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the seventh-highest in the league. They have some gas on offense and while they may not score a ton of goals, they have a ton of shots every night.

Let's turn directly to Sean Monahan, who is the center on the first forward line and the first power-play unit for the Blue Jackets. Monahan comes in with 46 shots on goal through 15 games, or 3.06 shots on goal per game. That's some solid volume for Monahan, which puts him second on the Blue Jackets this season.

It's a great matchup for some back-and-forth offense, putting Monahan in a prime spot to pile up the shots.
