The Philadelphia 76ers host the New York Knicks at the Wells Fargo Center in an Eastern Conference showdown.

The 76ers are playing the second of back-to-back games and the Knicks are coming off of a disappointing loss. This is the first game of the day, and both need a win.

New York Knicks: Sabotage

The New York Knicks have lost five of their last seven matches, including a heartbreaking loss against the Detroit Pistons in their most recent game. Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Karl-Anthony Towns seemed confused and dumbfounded about their communication breakdown that led to a wide open three from the Pistons.

The Knicks are still firmly third in the Eastern Conference, but are slipping further and further away from both first and second. They need to beat the teams that have bad records, or risk suffering something the Beastie Boys called Sabotage.

Philadelphia 76ers: Water Runs Dry

The Philadelphia 76ers are experiencing their worst season of this decade. They are currently on a three game losing streak, have lost six of their last ten, and are eleventh in the Eastern Conference. They are not even in the play-in despite having an all star lineup.

The expectations were much higher coming into the season, but they will have a difficult time making it to the first round of the playoffs, forget making it out of the first round. They should have their starting lineup as most set out last night, but it is worth monitoring prior to any major wagers. They are down but not out, but just like the Philadelphia based group Boyz II Men, the Water Runs Dry on the 76ers process.

Knicks vs. 76ers Predictions & Picks Today: Wednesday, 1/14

The Knicks enjoy a 6.5 spread but the line could move depending on the news of who is in or out.

The Knicks need to start stringing wins together to stay ahead of the middle of the pack. The 76ers need to win just to get into the pack. Except a hot start from the Knicks.

Knicks vs. 76ers Prediction: New York ML & Towns O1.5 Threes Made (-105 on DraftKings)

The New York Knicks have the advantage of having a night off. The Philadelphia 76ers rested all but one starter yesterday and will have fresh legs for the court. Although The Knicks should cover a -6.0 spread, with the way they have been playing the money line is suggested.

Karl-Anthony Towns is playing at an elite level, and his lines are either really tight or juiced up. That is the case with his over 1.5 threes made line, its standalone value is at -195. Towns only made 7 field goals in his last game, four of which were three-point attempts. With those seven field goals he earned 26 points.

The Knicks have been earning a favorable whistle and getting to the free throw line often. Towns has been playing a more traditional center but is a former All-Star three-point champion. He has the accuracy to make it from deep, and unlike most centers he came into the league with great three point making ability.

He has made two or more threes in four of his last five games and should look to keep space between him and Joel Embiid. Put a unit on the same game parlay with near even odds, and trust Towns to come through.
